It has been a long time since I  have witnessed peace in the political circles of our country at least for the NSG Waiver outside India and Singur crisis back home.

Hopes afloat that the time to come would be better if not best.

The main story which is the headlines of various newspapers today is the Bihar Floods.

A layman like me would often ponder on the  question of Flood scenario in Bihar. Why is it so that every monsoon season bihar is drowned like hell, and it resembles like an island.

Many things need to be addressed.

This time around it has been declared a National Calamity and Prime Minister has given the package of Rs. 1000 crore.

A flood affected person would definitely ask to himself:
Why in the hell the PM and the UPA chairperson take an aerial view of the affected areas, why not visit the state as Rahul Gandhi  does in Uttar Pradesh at the time of elections. What better they can do than to just roam around in a plane and talk of relief, even then its not sure that one would get it.

As taking into account floods are not new to Bihar but year after year it has not learnt from its mistakes, the measures to prevent it have not been in place mainly the  resources.

Forget about the Water Resources Minister of Bihar who at this  crunch time of floods is busy giving bytes to news channels rather than working for the people.

The time has come that people of bihar should take certain steps very much in advance along with those taken by the state government  so that the floods dont take refuge in their state.

To me, a news has rather come as a shock that a US company Media Morphosis has bought the rights of a prominent Durga Puja committee in the City of Joy. Once upon a time (when I was a kid, even during my early teens), worshiping deity Durga used to be not only a sign of spiritualism but also of joy. And, everyone from my village wished to witness the fanfare of Dugra Puja the way it was celebrated in the cultural city of Kolkata.

But, today I am reminded of my Dadi’s saying: Tu sab badali geli chhe. Duniya badali geli chhai. Ek din tu sab bhagwano ke bhech debhi (You all have changed. The world has changed. One day, you all will sell even our God to someone).  And, I always protested. I always maintained that the world has not changed, it has just moved on because the times have moved. You can’t stop time from flying, the same way you can’t stop the world from growing.

But, she with her ‘little wisdom’  (I used to call her wisdom that way, to tease her). But, she would say, you are falling in a trap. The trap is now in open and we all are falling into it. Today it’s the expense of a Puja celebrations, tomorrow it would be a deity that would be a patented subject or object of a corporation.  I am sad.

We must not give up our identity. Spiritualism has been our strength all through the ages. For God sake, leave God alone. He is precious, priceless.

Most of you must be aware of the latest decision of a Delhi tribunal headed by an HC judge on simi. I dont know what was the real logic behind the decision but even the best of the logic in this regard defies commonsense and the basic principle of logic itself. Justice Geeta found NO FRESH EVIDENCE to continue the ban. But being a part of the governance, the Justice must have asked for some inputs from ib, raw and police before handing over any such decision. the ban on simi is an executive order based on intelligence reports, how can a tribunal revoke or order to revoke that ban without having any input from intelligence.

If I believe the tribunal, I would have to grossly disbelieve our security agencies, which, though, are not in the ranks of mosad, cia or kbg but certainly, I dont distrust their patriotism and the attitude of putting nation before their prejudice. simi has been involved in bombings and other such activities. It’s an open secret best preserved by our meritorious (sic) politicians. but surely, a judicial or a quasi judicial should apply more brains and commonsense. because, as they say, commonsense codified is law and that judication goes on the basis of law or if I venture to say on the basis of commonsense.

To make it short, the decision has the potential to ruin the safety of the common man. I just hope, someone sensible is listening to the voice of the people.
